Refractive Telescope
The refractor telescope is one of the earliest telescopes invented. The way that it works depends mainly on the glass lens at the front of the telescope. When light passes through the glass, it bends (for more information, see light).
Pros:
– This telescope is easy to use, low maintenance and perfect for beginners.
– This telescope supplies you with good quality, sharp images.
– Air currents do not affect your view thanks to the tight air seal.
Cons:
– This telescope can be quite expensive.
– The image that you view using this telescope often includes a rainbow of colours surrounding the image.
– Depending on the thickness of the lens, the light may not pass through very efficiently.

Reflective Telescope
The way that the reflective telescope works depends on the mirror at the end of the telescope. The way that the mirror reflects the light results in the production of an image.
Pros:
– This telescope is great if you want to look at objects that are a great distance away or have little light.
– The images that this telescope produces are usually better quality than those from a refractive telescope.
– This telescope is easy to move around.
Cons:
– This telescope is very fragile, so you must handle them very gently at all times.
– This telescope may generate an inaccurate image.

Radio Telescope
Radio telescopes are used to study radio emission from stars, galaxies and other astronomical objects. They pick up on the noise in space using radio wavelengths. They can listen and then process information depending on the noise they hear in space.
