Steady State Theory
This theory was first proposed in the 1940's by Hermann Bondi, Thomas Gold, and Sir Fred Hoyle. According to this theory, the universe has always existed. This means that the universe we live in today is the same as how it was in the past and how it will be in the future, and that it looks the same from every angle and at all times. This theory lacks evidence, although it was once popularly believed, that is until the discovery of quasars. A quasar is a huge celestial object that, from the view of a telescope, looks like a star. Some have proposed that they contain large black holes. The fact that the light that is produced by quasars can take billions of years to reach Earth proves that the universe was obviously not the same as it is today.
